Explaining the I-94 Form
The I-94 form is like a ticket that shows when you entered the United States and how long you’re allowed to stay. When you arrive in the U.S. as a visitor, you get this form, either as a physical card or an electronic record. It’s important because it tells immigration officials when you need to leave the country. So, make sure to keep it safe and follow the dates on it to avoid any problems with immigration. The 1-94 form is issued at the point of entry. It acts as a record to show that you have entered the country legally on a specific visa status.
The information contained in the I-94 Form is;
- Admission (1-94) record Number: 11 digit number:
- Most Recent Date of Entry: The most recent date of entry indicates the date a traveler entered the United States.
- Class of Admission: List the current legal status/classification the foreign national holds.
- Admit Until Date: The Admit Until Date is the date that the traveler’s immigrant status expires, For students and other exchange visitors, this date is “D/S” or Duration of Status. For other visa classifications, this will be a hard end date.
