Types Of Immigration

What is Immigration?

Immigration is the movement of people into a destination country where they are not citizens, most times from the country where they were born.

There are two types of Immigration:

  1. Immigrant immigration: This is when a Foreign National decides to settle permanently in the United States. There are different kind of Visa Classification for immigrants, depending on their unique situation. We will dive deeper into that in another article.
  2. Non-immigrant immigration: This is when a Foreign National decides to settle temporarily in the United States. Different visa classifications and criteria are also in place for this type of Immigration.

Why do people Immigrate?

People Immigrate for Various reason from their home country, in search of better healthcare, education, job opportunities, fleeing wrongful persecution, marriage, reuniting with their family members and or spouse.
